Commission a Portrait
The Process
Take your picture
To commission a painting please send a photograph of your subject matter taken from the angle you prefer.
If it is a house the time of day is important. Please do try to take photos on a sunny day. There may be a
certain time of day when your house is at its best. Shadows add dimension and detail. You may also want to leave
a few windows open to give it life. Also, take close up photos of any detail such as a date stone or name plate
or wall lights. This is especially true of a car or tractor which have a lot of intricate detail. Please make
notations of anything you may wish to have left out of the painting such as an alarm box, tv antenna or tree.
Include in the photo a bit of the surrounding garden.
Send Us Your Picture
If photos are sent via email I can accept jpg, jpeg, tiff or pdf files as attachments or in a WORD document. Please ensure the resolution is such that viewed at 8x10 inches detail won't be lost. Photos can be posted but again they must be large enough to show detail. If you have any questions please email enquiries@trickywarren.com.
Creating Your Portrait
Once I receive your photos I will then produce a pencil drawing and email it to you to approve before commencing with the painting. It normally takes about two weeks to complete a painting depending on how many commissions I have at the time.
Paying for Your Portrait
Upon approval please pay by check or bank transfer. Once payment is received or check has cleared I will post the painting
by registered mail.
Other Information
Commissioning for a Later Date
It is also possible to commission a painting for a later date. Taking the photograph of your house at a particular time of year when
the garden is in bloom for a painting required in the autumn is a good example. You needn't pay until the painting is completed.
Commisioning as a Gift
If your commission is a gift please make me aware as I always aim to complete in time to allow you to have it framed in time. Once
I have finished the painting I will scan it and email you a low resolution copy to approve. I will also keep a high resolution copy
on permanent file if in the future you wish to have postcards, notelets or letterhead printed.
For Christmas presents please try to commission before the middle of November as I get really busy and don't want to disappoint anyone. If a commission is a surprise for someone who lives with you please let me know at the time of commissioning.
